The Programs
Artist-in-ResidencyIn each Artist-in-Residency, students study and perform one of nine Shakespeare plays in their classroom. A professional Teaching Artist from The Philadelphia Shakespeare Theatre works in collaboration with the classroom teacher to perform scenes from these plays with the students. Students perfect their scenes using intensive theatre training sessions such as: acting Shakespeare, character development; fight combat, and performance preparation. With over 20 years of Shakespeare expertise, we've carefully crafted our performance-based curriculum to align with P.A. State and National Common Core Standards for reading, performance, and literary interpretation. In addition to the work the students do in the classroom, they are also assigned individual and group activities to work on outside the classroom that focus on personal development, memorization, self-reflection, and project planning.

All the World's a Stage School TourThe only way to fundamentally experience and understand the works of William Shakespeare as they were intended is through performance. We bring Shakespeare directly to the schools through a live performance each spring. The actors are professional actors who are well versed and experienced in Shakespeare’s language and in classical acting. This experience includes a guided talkback with the actors and a comprehensive study guide that students use in the weeks leading up to the performance.
